When it comes to saving and healing lives through organ and tissue donation, the term “it takes a village” could not be more relevant. Valuable partnerships help fulfill our mission of saving and healing the lives of others through organ and tissue donation.
Coroners play a vital role in increasing the number of lives saved and healed through organ and tissue donation. While many coroners across the state are dedicated to this mission, there is one in particular who has gone above and beyond. That person is Deputy Coroner Wendi Scoles from St. Joseph County.
Wendi has spent numerous hours on the phone, on cases, at hospitals and even left her own birthday party to ensure the opportunity for donation is possible. Her dedication to donation and transplantation has led to more than 15 organ transplants and hundreds of tissue transplants.
To that end, it was our honor to attend the 2018 Dr. David Avolt Memorial Training Conference and present Wendi the Indiana Donor Network Outstanding Coroner Award.
Thank you, Wendi. We are so grateful for your support and continued partnership.
