15th annual Night of Light honors Evansville-area donor heroes

EVANSVILLE, Ind. – Vanderburgh County residents whose lives have been affected by organ and tissue donation will gather to honor local organ donors at a special tree-lighting ceremony Dec. 2 in downtown Evansville.
The 15th annual Night of Light hosted by Indiana Donor Network begins at 4:30 pm CST at the corner of Locust Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., across the street from the Ford Center. Event parking is available at the Locust Street Parking Garage, located at 416 Locust St.
The ceremony celebrating the gift of life will start at 5:30 pm with remarks from several speakers, including Evansville Mayor Lloyd Winnecke and local resident Jessica Schnur, a nurse who received a lifesaving liver transplant one year ago.
Prior, families of local donor heroes are encouraged to help decorate the holiday tree by bringing an ornament to hang in honor of their loved one. Photographs with Santa and light refreshments will be available during the event, which ends at 6:30 pm CST.
Keepsake ornaments will be available for purchase throughout the evening, with proceeds benefitting the Indiana Donor Network Foundation, which provides financial assistance to organ transplant recipients and the families of donor heroes.
