The narrow time between organ recovery and transplantation can literally mean life or death. The more time that passes between recovery and transplant increases the risk of damage to the organ. This also restricts the geographic distance allowed between the donor and waiting recipient.
At Indiana Donor Network, our work is guided by our values of Thinking Big, Serving Well and Being Remarkable. In alignment with our value of Think Big and our collective passion to save more lives, we realized this could be achieved by breaking down the time barriers associated with organ transport. As a result, Indiana Donor Network launched TxJet in 2014.
Since its launch, TxJet has delivered more than 600 lifesaving organs to recipients nationwide. Watch this video to learn more about TxJet.
Yesterday, our hopes for the program’s impact were additionally affirmed when TxJet was named a 2017 Indiana Innovation Award winner.
Awards are earned by individuals and organizations who are successfully leading innovation change in our state. TxJet was one of just nine winners this year, selected by an executive panel of judges from a pool of 48 finalists.
Members of the TxJet team celebrated this honor with Centric, Inc., the think tank that administers the Innovation Awards, and other state leaders during a breakfast ceremony at the Indiana Day of Innovation Conference on October 12.
