Valentine named director of Vital Link Donation Center, logistics

INDIANAPOLIS – Sara Valentine of Indianapolis has been promoted by Indiana Donor Network to director, Vital Link Donation Center and logistics.

Vital Link Donation Center is the epicenter of Indiana Donor Network, with 24/7 operations employing about 50 clinical support, logistic and transportation professionals.

In her new role, Valentine oversees all activities of Vital Link, including the coordination of logistical support for the organization’s organ, tissue and family services departments to provide exceptional customer service for professional partners and donor families while maximizing organ and tissue donation outcomes.

“Sara has been instrumental in increasing our tissue authorization rate by more than 10%, standardizing workflows and improving communication to our external stakeholders,” said Kira Newkirk, vice president of business operations at Indiana Donor Network. “Vital Link Donation Center speaks to more than 3,000 families a year about tissue donation. Sara’s passion for our donor family experience is reflected in a 99% positive communication survey results from families.”

Valentine also oversees Indiana Donor Network’s transportation division, which has expanded to a fleet of 20 corporate vehicles charged with transporting medical and transplantation teams, blood samples, kidney pumps and donor heroes.

Valentine was previously manager of the Vital Link Donation Center, a position she held for seven years since joining Indiana Donor Network from IU Health, where she was a revenue cycle operations manager.

Originally from Grand Rapids, Michigan, Valentine earned a bachelor’s degree in marketing and communications from University of Dayton and a master’s degree in public health from Purdue University.
