Todd Hensel

Todd’s story is one of survival, love, transformation and hope.

After a series of severe life-threatening challenges, Todd’s life was saved by a miraculous multi-visceral organ transplant from a heroic donor hero in 2008. His donor hero gave him and his family a second chance. He has now dedicated his journey to raising awareness about the critical lifesaving impact of saying “yes” to being an organ donor.

This story isn’t just about Todd’s survival. It is about the nearly lifelong bond between two kids who met in high school and reconnected later in life. Carrie Meehan and Todd went to school together, and as Carrie shares, “There was always a special connection.” Together, they share their experiences to inspire hope and healing in others. From living with the uncertainties of illness to witnessing an organ donor’s profound generosity, they hope to inspire others with their story.

Carrie and Todd now use their platform to emphasize their perseverance in facing health struggles and the importance of giving life through organ donation. My Miracle Man was written by Carrie, but it was a shared effort to get their miraculous story down on pages that people from all walks of life can access and seek inspiration from.

Todd, who balances life as a farmer with outreach and hospice work, embodies the strength and gratitude that has defined his journey. He stays busy to remain healthy and hopes his strength inspires others waiting for their lifesaving gift.

Todd’s story inspires through his extraordinary resilience—a resilience that he shows in honor of his donor hero. Read about his entire journey in the book he and Carrie wrote here: My Miracle Man.
