The LifePort Liver Transporter emulates bodily function through oxygenated hypothermic machine perfusion, which involves the passage of preservative fluid through a donor liver to keep it functioning outside the body. Acting like the human heart, the device continually pumps a blood substitute through the organ’s hepatic artery and portal vein at normal body temperature.
