Edwards named director of hospital services

INDIANAPOLIS – Westfield, Indiana, resident Kristen Edwards has been named director of hospital services at Indiana Donor Network. Kristen has an extensive nursing leadership background, most recently serving as the chief nursing officer for Ascension St. Vincent Central North Region.

She is responsible for directing the strategic planning, operations and development of the organization’s hospital services department and provides oversight of relationships with hospital partners.

“In the past two years, the hospital environment has radically changed and we have had to be innovative in the way we work with hospitals to educate and support organ donation,” said Kira Newkirk, vice president of business operations at Indiana Donor Network. “Our hospital relationships and processes are crucial to the success of transplanting and saving more lives. I am confident Kristen’s leadership and experience will continue to cultivate hospital partnerships and serve our organization well.”

Originally from Pittsburgh, Edwards earned a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Purdue University and both a Master of Science degree in nursing and Master of Business Administration degree from Anderson University. She holds an ANCC Nurse Executive Advanced board certification.

She serves as vice chairwoman of the board of directors for Trinity Free Clinic in Carmel. Edwards is a member of the Purdue University School of Nursing Advisory Council, Sigma Theta Ta, American Nurses Association and Indiana Organization of Nursing Executives.
